The reigning state champions from Lafayette, CA, had another exciting year, this time with an NCS championship to close out the season. In all of Dr. Workman's years taking care of the Acalanes players, and though every team has been a special group of young athletes, these past few teams have shown some of the most spirit and grit he's seen come through the program.
The NCS championship game was one for the books, for reason more than taking home the trophy. Friday, November 29th, 2024, on neutral ground at Las Lomas High School, the Acalanes Dons took on their long-time rival Campolindo High to battle for the title. November 29th was the day after Thanksgiving, and with many alumni and family members from both schools visiting town for the holidays, the stands were packed with a roaring crowd of fans. The energy on and off the field was electric; anyone could sense this game was special.
It was a battle from the first whistle to the last. There were some outstanding plays, catches, and tackles, skills that could easily relay to college-level competition. The final whistle blew, and a sea of blue stormed the field. The Dons came out victorious with a final score of 20-17.
Congratulations to the 2024 Acalanes Football Team on another incredible season! Go Dons!
